Ice Hockey

Everett Arena Reopening for Hockey

The Everett Arena will be reopening to contracted hockey groups on October 30, 2020 after a two-week suspension of all ice activities per advisement of the State of New Hampshire's COVID-19 reopening task force. The break from activities was advised due to concern of recent reports of COVID-19 outbreaks linked to ice hockey at indoor arena facilities. It was intended for arenas to put additional safety measures in place, clean and sanitize facilities, and to give players and their families time to get tested.

The task force has released new guidelines on October 24, 2020 that includes the requirement for all rink staff, volunteers, coaches/staff, referees, and athletes (youth and adult leagues) be tested at least once for COVID-19 prior to November 6, 2020. The test should be performed after the 2-week pause (October 15) and can either be PCR or Antigen based (rapid test). Test results must be provided to the hockey program on or before November 6 with a copy being kept by the program for 30 days. A person is exempt if they have previously tested positive for COVID-19 in the three months prior to October 15 with a virus-specific test used to diagnose active infection (PCR or antigen based test).

There have not been any known COVID-19 cases linked to the Everett Arena. The Everett Arena has been exceeding all guidelines for cleaning and sanitization, has had safety measures in place for increased air filtration, and will also now be implementing a new screening kiosk for improved COVID-19 screenings with touchless temperature taking. Everyone that enters the arena will be required to be screened and have their temperature taken at the kiosk in the front entrance lobby.

Ice operations will resume in accordance with all CDC, State of New Hampshire, and City of Concord guidelines for COVID-19. Masks or facial coverings are required when inside of the arena and recommended while on the ice during hockey, but not required when actively engaged in athletics. Masks are required while on the ice for public skating and recommended for stick practice. Players must stay in locker rooms until notified, spectating will be limited to immediate family (siblings must stay with parent, or group will be asked to leave), and all groups will enter the building through the main entrance and exit through the side doors (some hockey players will exit from their locker room).
