Responsibilities
The Accounting Office arranges for an annual independent audit, through competitive bidding, per City Charter Section 41. The results of this annual audit are published in the City's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), formerly titled the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). For each year beginning in 1995, the City's CAFR has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The Certificate of Achievement is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government financial reports.
