Community Centers

Concord Parks & Recreation manages 4 community centers throughout the city. The City Wide Community Center located on the Heights, The West Street Ward House located in the south end and the Green Street Community Center located downtown and the Merrimack Lodge at White Park. Each of these buildings are available for rent as well as being used for programming.

City Wide Community Center

To reserve space at the new City-Wide Community Center please email John Andersch at JAndersch@Concordnh.gov. Please fill out the Indoor Rental Request Form and send to John. If rental is canceled within three weeks of rental there, is no refund for rental expense. During camp season our program rooms are used during the day and then are cleaned during the evening hours. Please request rooms ahead of time whenever possible.

The City Wide Community Center, at the site of the former Dame School at 14 Canterbury Road, is a 30,000 square foot facility featuring the following amenities:

  • 5 multi-purpose programming rooms, one of which houses the Heights Branch of the Concord Public Library
  • 2 rooms for exercise, dance and aerobics
  • Senior Lounge for senior citizen activities
  • A large multipurpose auditorium featuring a stage and adjacent catering kitchen for functions and performances
  • An 8,000 square foot gymnasium with 2 basketball courts, pickleball courts, volleyball court and much more
  • Locker rooms
  • Parks and Recreation Department administrative offices

Hours of Operation (summer)

Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Fridays: 8:00 a.m.  -4:30 p.m.
Saturdays: 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Sundays:  Closed

West Street Ward House

To reserve the West Street Ward House please email John Dennett at jdennett@concordnh.gov. Please fill out the Indoor Rental Request Form and send to John. If rental is canceled within three weeks of rental, there is no refund for rental expense. 

The West Street Ward house is a one-room center accommodating up to 50 people for a party, meeting or class.

GSCC Gym

Green Street Community Center Gym
To reserve gym space at the Green Street Community Center please contact please email John Dennett at jdennett@concordnh.gov Please fill out the Indoor Rental Request Form and send to John. As we need to schedule a staff person to open the gym we require rental requests to be requested at least three weeks prior to date.  If rental is canceled within three weeks of rental there is no refund for rental expense.

The Green Street Community Center is roughly 8,000 sq. feet and house a gym and locker rooms. The gym is lined for basketball and pickleball.

RENT-A -COMMUNITY CENTER

Concord Parks & Recreation offers rentals at four indoor facilities. The Green Street Community Center, West Street Ward House, Merrimack Lodge at White Park and the City Wide Community Center are all options for your next event or business meeting. We can accommodate many different layouts & groups of different sizes. Contact us for availability, please note reservations are not confirmed until the rental request form is filled out and returned to staff. Once a reservation is confirmed by staff payment is due within 72 hours.  

If rental is canceled within three weeks of rental there is no refund for rental expense. 

Our rental fees for groups and leagues are whether a group is Concord/Penacook group or a nonresident group/league. We use the business address that is listed on your certificate of insurance  Non profit groups will also need to provide us their tax ID number and be in good standing with the State of NH. 

Please note city staff cannot waive or reduce approved rental rates. Typically rental costs are not waived however if you would like to request a fee reduction please email the Parks and Recreation Director at dgill@concordnh.gov at least 30 days prior to your event/rental with reason why requesting reduced rental fee. Non resident groups and for profits are not eligible for rental fee waivers. Other expenses related to rental/event are not waived: cost for staff to be onsite after regular hours, clean up costs, security deposits, any permits needed from code etc. Your request will be reviewed with City Manager.
