Each spring, Concord General Services’ Highway and Utilities Division flushes City-owned hydrants as part of required routine maintenance to remove any sediment from water distribution pipes. This process maintains water quality, water clarity, and also checks for water pressure. Water customers may experience low water pressure and discolored water in their area during hydrant flushing.
Hydrant flushing will begin on Monday, May 18. Flushing will continue for several weeks in different areas of the city. Concord water customers should view the tentative flushing schedules below to determine when flushing is scheduled to occur in their area. When your scheduled flushing time approaches, please visit our spring operations web page at www.concordnh.gov/springoperations to confirm there weren’t any scheduling changes. Customers should avoid doing laundry during their flushing time and run their tap water on cold to flush the lines if discoloration occurs.
