A neighborhood meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Beaver Meadow Golf Course at 6 p.m. to discuss proposed improvements to the Sewalls Falls/Abbott Road Intersection. All are welcome to attend. The proposed improvements involve the removal of the existing skewed approach and realigning Sewalls Falls Road to “T” into Abbott Road. Construction is tentatively scheduled for Spring / Summer of 2024.
This is one of several “Y” intersections located throughout the community. In conjunction with the annual highway program (CIP #78), the City has been working diligently to convert these to “T” intersections to improve pedestrian and motor vehicle safety. The proposed improvements will eliminate high speed turns, reduce conflict points, and improve sight distance at this location.
Following the Neighborhood Meeting, the final design will be presented to the City Council for review. Funding for this project was appropriated by the City Council as part of the FY2024 Budget (specifically CIP #520). Please see the concept plan for more information.
