CIP 498 - Birchdale Road Reconstruction
Notice posted July 30, 2021:
E.D. Swett has completed half of the bridge abutments and decking. Over the next 2-3 weeks, the private utilities will be working to transfer the overhead lines to the opposite side of the road so work can begin on completing the final half of the abutments and bridge deck. The bridge has to be constructed in two phases due to the distance restrictions the crane can be to the overhead utilities. The private utilities will notify their clients if service will be disrupted.
Notice posted June 10, 2021:
The contractor will continue to install the cofferdam on the upstream and downstream sides of Bella Brook next week. Once completed they will proceed to dewater the work area to begin construction of the bridge abutments.
Notice posted May 28, 2021:
The existing bridge deck has been removed and the contractor will begin to construct the cofferdam for the new bridge abutment on the Bow side of Bella Brook. The cofferdam will allow the contractor to pump the water from the work area so they can proceed with the construction of the abutment.
The road will be closed to all motor and non-motorized traffic beginning at 6:30 AM Monday May 24, 2021.
Detour will be via Hooksett Turnpike Road.
The contractor will be installing erosion/sedimentation control then proceed to remove the road asphalt and bridge deck.
Heavy equipment will be mobilized to the site.
On Friday, May 14, 2021, ED Swett set up electronic message boards to alert motorists that Birchdale Road will be closed from Monday, May 24, 2021 to mid-November 2021 to begin the bridge replacement project.
