The Downtown Complete Streets Improvement Project has been selected as one of the American Public Works Association's (APWA's) 2017 Public Works Projects of the Year for Small Cities/Rural Communities in the Transportation category.

The APWA Project of the Year Award is a national award granted to cities with a population of 75,000 or less for outstanding projects that have demonstrated creativity, ingenuity, and efficiency in delivery and have had a profound impact on the community.  Winning project selection criteria includes meeting the balanced needs of the community, a commitment to sustainability, solutions in response to economic challenges, creative use of municipal resources, and design and construction practices that are all-inclusive and minimize impacts to the community.
