What role does the City Solicitor perform for the City?
The City Solicitor provides legal services to the City government. These services include providing legal advice to City officials, departments, and employees regarding City business and representing the City in court. When the City’s interests are infringed, the City Solicitor files suit to protect them. The City Solicitor also drafts legislation; reviews contracts, deeds, and leases; and provides other legal advice to the City government.
