Repairs and renovations for the Storrs Street Parking Garage began on August 16. The repairs and renovations include, but are not be limited to, masonry and concrete repairs, replacement of all caulking / sealants / membranes, lighting improvements (LED conversion and expanding lighting on interior floors), stairwell renovations, as well as pigeon control devices.
The City has engaged Scholar Painting and Restoration of Seymour, CT to complete the project. It is anticipated that the project will take approximately 6-9 months to complete. The total budget for the project is approximately $1 million.
To facilitate construction activities, all reserved leased parking spaces were temporarily converted to a permit parking program. The permit program started on August 19.
Metered public parking will be maintained in the garage during the renovations.
Approximately 6 parking spaces in the Hills Avenue Municipal Parking Lot are temporarily closed to facilitate construction.
