Repairs and renovations for the Storrs Street Parking Garage will begin on August 16. The repairs and renovations include, but are not be limited to, masonry and concrete repairs, replacement of all caulking / sealants / membranes, lighting improvements (LED conversion and expanding lighting on interior floors), stairwell renovations, as well as pigeon control devices.
The City has engaged Scholar Painting and Restoration of Seymour, CT to complete the project. It is anticipated that the project will take approximately 6-9 months to complete. The total budget for the project is approximately $1 million.
To facilitate construction activities, all reserved leased parking spaces will be temporarily converted to a permit parking program. The permit program will start on August 19. The Parking Division is working with affected lessees to implement the program.
Metered public parking will be maintained in the garage during the renovations.
Approximately 6 parking spaces in the Hills Avenue Municipal Parking Lot will be temporarily closed to facilitate construction.
